MANILA, Nov. 21 -- Senator JV Ejercito has recommended doubling the daily subsistence allowance of uniformed personnel from the current rate of PHP150 to PHP350.

In a statement on Friday, Ejercito said the increase will benefit some 330,000 personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), and Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC).

The proposed adjustment was incorporated into the recommendations of the subcommittee chaired by Ejercito and was adopted by the Senate Committee Report.

Ejercito sponsored the budgets of these agencies, proposing allocations worth PHP16.05 billion for the PNP, PHP2.76 billion for the PCG, PHP2.76...
