Manila, June 30 -- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has extended assistance to a shipyard company to mitigate flooding in Barangay San Jose, Navotas City following the collapse of a river wall there over the weekend.

In a telephone interview, engineer William Zamoranos of the DPWH's Malabon-Navotas District Engineering Office told the Philippine News Agency (PNA) that they have provided sandbags and plywood to temporarily cover the collapsed portion of the wall inside the property of the private firm.

"We started putting up sandbags and plywood early Sunday morning to enclose the affected portion and prevent water from entering," he said.
