Manila, Aug. 28 -- Dinagat Islands Governor Nilo Demerey Jr. was honored Thursday as the Philippine Army's best reservist officer of the year by the Eastern Mindanao Command (Eastmincom), coinciding with the command's 19th anniversary celebration.
Demerey, who holds the rank of lieutenant colonel in the Armed Forces of the Philippines reserve force, received the award from Eastmincom commander, Lt. Gen. Luis Rex Bergante, during a ceremony at Naval Station Felix Apolinario in Panacan, Davao City.
Demerey currently leads both the 2004th Ready Reserve Infantry Brigade and the 1505th Ready Reserve Infantry Battalion, which covers Surigao del Norte, Dinagat Islands, and Siargao Island.
