Manila, March 11 -- Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Ace Barbers said Tuesday the arrest of former president Rodrigo Duterte, through a warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC), is a step toward accountability and healing for the families of victims of extrajudicial killings (EJKs) during his administration's war on drugs.
"Ang pag-aresto kay dating pangulong Duterte ay isang hakbang tungo sa katarungan para sa mga pamilyang nawalan ng mahal sa buhay dahil sa EJKs (Former president Duterte's arrest is a step toward justice for the families who lost loved ones due to EJKs)," Barbers, overall chair of the House of Representatives Quad Committee that probed the EJKs being linked to the drug war, said in a statement.
