MANILA, Dec. 6 -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has activated its red alert status as Tropical Depression (TD) Wilma nears the Bicol Region and the Visayas.

"Simula po kahapon ay naka-red alert status na ang DSWD at ang aming Disaster Response Command Center (DRCC). Nakatutok ang aming ahensya at mga field offices upang patuloy tayong makapaghatid ng kinakailangang tulong sa mga kababayan natin na apektado ni Wilma (The DSWD and its DRCC have been on red alert since Friday. Our field offices are closely monitoring the situation so that we can continuously assist our countrymen affected by Wilma)," Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao of the Disaster Response Management Group said in a statement on Saturday.
