Tacloban City, Jan. 5 -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) regional office in Eastern Visayas has prepositioned relief resources worth PHP142.26 million as it braces for the effects of continuous rains brought by the shear line.

In a statement on Monday, the DSWD said its regional office remains on heightened alert and ready to respond to possible flooding and landslides across the region.

The standby relief assistance includes 164,832 family food packs, 11,973 ready-to-eat food packs, and 18,543 non-food items.

The agency has also allocated PHP590,000 in standby fund for emergency response.
