Manila, July 11 -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has provided more than PHP202 million worth of aid to families affected by recent disasters including Tropical Depression Bising, the southwest monsoon or "habagat", the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), and volcanic activities of Mt. Kanlaon.
In a news release on Friday, Director Maria Isabel Lanada of the DSWD's Disaster Response Management Bureau (DRMB) said the agency has delivered more than 167,000 boxes of family food packs (FFPs) and essential non-food items (NFIs), such as sleeping and hygiene kits as well as kitchen sets, to families affected by disasters across several regions.
