Manila, Feb. 20 -- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has started the PHP28.9-million repair of Biliran Bridge, more than a month after the structure went viral online when it exhibited wavelike movements.

The DPWH Biliran district engineering office said works started this week following the issuance of the notice to proceed early this month.

"The identified contractor has been mobilizing their equipment and some materials to be used as scaffoldings and other preparatory repair activities," said DPWH Biliran officer in charge Irwin Antonio in a statement on Thursday.
