Manila, Feb. 13 -- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the PHP96.5 million flood mitigation structure in Alaminos City, Pangasinan, aimed at protecting communities from recurring flooding.

DPWH Ilocos Region information officer Esperanza Tinaza announced on Thursday that the project, located in Barangay San Jose, started on April 8, 2024 and was completed on Feb. 1, 2025.

"The completed flood mitigation structure will enhance the area's drainage capacity, minimize flood damage, and strengthen the community's resilience against extreme weather events," she said in a statement, adding that the community's proximity to bodies of water makes it vulnerable to flooding.
