Manila, Feb. 10 -- Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon on Tuesday assessed two bridges severely affected by the former Tropical Storm Basyang (international name Penha) in Iligan City.
He ordered the construction of a temporary bridge as an alternative to the Panul-iran Bridge in Barangay Abuno, which was swept away by the strong current from the Iligan River when Basyang hit over the weekend.
The construction of the temporary steel bridge is expected to be completed within 60 days.
"We need to immediately construct a temporary steel bridge while we will include in our budget the construction of a permanent bridge in our 2027 budget," he said in an interview during the visit.
