Manila, Sept. 4 -- The Department of Public Works and Highways-Davao (DPWH-11) said Thursday it will intervene and negotiate with both a contractor and a landowner to expedite the repair of the damaged Matina Gravahan flood control dike.

More than a year after a portion of the dike was destroyed by raging waters, no repairs have been undertaken due to pending funding and an unresolved dispute between the contractor and a landowner.

In a statement, DPWH-11 spokesperson Dean Ortiz acknowledged the conflict and said the regional office is trying to resolve the matter.

"We will intervene and negotiate with both the landowner and the contractor to expedite the repair of the damaged dike," he assured.
