India, June 9 -- Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary Renato Solidum Jr. said Monday the agency plans to invest over PHP2.6 billion for AI (artificial intelligence) projects.

Speaking at the Philippine Launch of the Global Human Development Report 2025 in Makati City, Solidum said the department created an AI roadmap that lays out strategies in facilities and services, human resources, research and development (R&D) technologies, and science and technology policies.

"In support of this, the DOST is looking to invest more than PHP2.6 billion in AI projects spanning industries, healthcare, education, mobility, environment, disaster risk reduction, and emerging technology platforms," he said.
