Manila, Sept. 3 -- Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary Renato Solidum on Wednesday urged the use of science in the implementation of flood control projects.

In a press briefing at the Summit Hotel as part of the Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week celebration, Solidum said addressing frequent widespread flooding calls for the application of a science-based approach.

This approach, he said, focuses on providing tailored interventions for specific river or sub-river basins.

Solidum said such an approach necessitates conducting studies to assess waterways and evaluate the risks associated with construction projects in these areas.
