Manila, Feb. 3 -- Domestic workers are not allowed to engage in non-household work if they are not provided with a separate pay for it, an official of the Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns (BWSC) said Tuesday.
BWSC Director Leilani Reynoso said Republic Act 10361 or the Batas Kasambahay provides that domestic workers who are doing non-household work must be given separate wages.
"A domestic worker cannot be assigned to perform tasks that are not covered by his or her contract as a domestic worker," she said in a radio interview.
"If that will be the setup, there must be an agreement between the employer and the worker, wherein the domestic worker shall have additional income aside from what she earns as a domestic worker," Reynos...
