MANILA, July 19 -- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) urged private sector employers to comply with the PHP50 daily wage increase for minimum wage earners in Metro Manila, which took effect on July 18.
DOLE - National Capital Region (NCR) Director Sarah Buena Mirasol expressed hope that employers would voluntarily implement Wage Order NCR-26, issued by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board on June 30.
"We are calling on all employers to apply the new minimum wage rate," she said in a phone interview on Saturday.
The wage adjustment is expected to benefit about 1.2 million minimum wage earners in the NCR and marks the highest increase granted by the wage board to date.
