Manila, June 6 -- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Friday welcomed the increase in the country's employment rate in April, saying it shows the "remarkable resilience" of the labor market.

"The Philippine labor market continues to show its remarkable resilience with a strong employment rate of 95.9 percent in April 2025," DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma said in a statement, citing the latest labor report from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

Although the figure is lower than the 96 percent recorded in April last year, Laguesma said there is an increase in employment from 48.354 million workers to 48.672 million, or an increase of 317,290.
