MANILA, Dec. 5 -- Justice Undersecretary Jose "Jojo" Cadiz Jr. has resigned following reports linking him to a contractor in Ilocos Norte, Malacanang confirmed Friday.

"Sa aking pagkakaalam, siya ay nag-submit na ng kaniyang resignation (To my knowledge, he has submitted his resignation)," Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said during a press briefing, confirming Cadiz's resignation.

Castro said she has yet to confirm with the Department of Justice the exact date of Cadiz's resignation, adding that any investigation regarding the matter should proceed.

"If there's a need for investigation on that issue, so let the investigation be done," she said.
