MANILA, March 6 -- The Department of Health (DOH) has expressed support to the proposal of Finance Secretary Ralph Recto to ban disposable vapes.

In a statement Wednesday, the DOH said all vapes should be banned due to their harmful effects on health and the environment.

"Disposable vapes and vapor products pose significant health risks including e-cigarette or vapor product associated lung injury (EVALI), nicotine addiction, and respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, among others," it said.

Disposable vapes are electronic smoking devices made for one-time use. Hence, they are non-rechargeable and are sold pre-filled with e-liquid.

They are also made with plastic and batteries which are not easily recyclable or biodegradable.
