Manila, Feb. 19 -- The Department of Health in Bicol (DOH-5) has deployed 14 doctors to rural health units in the region to provide healthcare services in communities, particularly in far-flung areas, under the Doctors to the Barrio (DTTBs) program.

In an interview on Wednesday, DOH-5 Assistant Regional Director, Dr. Rosa Maria Rempillo, said the doctors will also participate in health education, particularly on early detection and prevention of diseases.

"Our DTTBs will also assist in implementing community development activities, promoting a comprehensive healthcare delivery system, and reducing the burden on secondary and tertiary healthcare facilities," she said.
