Manila, June 11 -- The Department of Health in Bicol (DOH-5) on Wednesday reminded the public to adopt preventive measures against dengue through the "4S Kontra Dengue" strategy, as the rainy season begins.
In a media release, the DOH reported a total of 952 dengue cases in the region from Jan. 1 to May 24, 2025, translating to a 112-percent increase in cases compared to the same period last year.
The "4S" strategy includes the following key actions: "search" and destroy mosquito breeding grounds by eliminating stagnant water and removing containers that hold water, "self-protection" measures such as using insect repellent and wearing long-sleeved shirts and long pants, "seek" early consultation with a doctor or healthcare worker if yo...
