Manila, Dec. 29 -- The number of road accidents recorded during the holiday season has climbed to 414 as of 5 a.m. on Monday, based on reports gathered by the Department of Health (DOH) from 10 sentinel hospitals.

In its latest bulletin, the DOH said the figure reflects 29 additional cases recorded since Dec. 21.

Four were reported killed in the accidents, all motorcycle riders. Motorcycles also account for 305 of the total number of accidents.

Data also showed that 58 cases were linked to alcohol use, while 343 individuals did not use safety accessories such as helmets or seatbelts at the time of the crash.
