Manila, March 27 -- The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) opened on Thursday the Susan Ople Labor, Migration, and Development Resource Center, an online and physical resource center in Makati City that will strengthen government support for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
In his speech during the launch, Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said the facility was designed to enhance support for OFWs and improve labor migration policies through research, education, and advocacy.
He said the center is named in honor of the late Secretary Susan "Toots" Ople, the first head of the DMW, and a dedicated advocate for migrant workers with a mission to protect and uplift OFWs.
