MANILA, April 18 -- The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has reached out to employers of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in the Ehime and Kochi prefectures in Japan to ascertain their safety and conditions following a 6.6-magnitude earthquake.

"Migrant Workers Office-Osaka issued Advisory No. 04-2024 today, reminding Supervising Organizations and Principals to monitor the condition of OFWs in their jurisdictions and report any incidents involving Filipino workers that the earthquake may have caused," the DMW said in a statement on Thursday.

At about 11:14 p.m. on Wednesday, a magnitude 6.6 earthquake shook a wide area of Western Japan.
