Manila, Dec. 19 -- Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) victimized by human trafficking, as well as their families, will now have a clearer and faster pathway to report cases and receive government assistance.
During the launch of the operational guidelines for referral of trafficking in persons cases led by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Department of Justice-Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (DOJ-IACAT) in Mandaluyong City on Thursday, Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said the new system would expedite government action.
He said the system, launched during the International Migrants Day, seeks to address the persistent threat of trafficking in persons, protecting the rights, dignity, and welfare of OFWs.
