MANILA, Dec. 5 -- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on Friday proposed the construction of a pumping station in Araneta Avenue in Quezon City to solve incessant flooding in the area.
During an inspection of flood control projects in the area, Secretary Vince Dizon pushed for the funding of the facility.
The project, which aims to end perennial flooding along Araneta Avenue, is targeted to be funded through the agency's savings.
At the same time, the DPWH chief also ordered the dredging of the nearby heavily silted San Juan River.
He reported that the installation of two 1.5-meter drainage pipes along G. Araneta Avenue is ongoing, replacing its previous narrow 36-inch canal.
