Manila, Feb. 28 -- The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in the Cordillera region on Friday urged local leaders to ramp up their anti-dengue measures to prevent a possible outbreak.

"We urge all local chief executives to actively mobilize their local health workers, volunteers, and communities to conduct cleanup drives, search-and-destroy operations, and maintain proper drainage systems," DILG-Cordillera Director Araceli San Jose said in an interview.

San Jose encouraged villages to eliminate mosquito-breeding sites, such as stagnant water in containers, tires, and other debris.

Proper management of drainage systems, she added, is also important to prevent water stagnation.
