Manila, May 6 -- The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has started technical assessment and preparatory planning for the installation of free WiFi models in all trains and stations of the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3).

In a statement on Tuesday, the DICT announced the dispatch of teams from its Free WiFi for All (FWFA) Program in coordination with executives from the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the MRT-3 to begin the project's groundworks.

The free WiFi program is an initiative under President Ferdinand R. Marcos' Bagong Pilipinas to provide free connectivity to the hundreds of thousands of commuters daily in Metro Manila's busiest rail service.
