MANILA, Aug. 29 -- The Philippine government is "clear and unwavering" in its One China Policy, which recognizes the People's Republic of China as the only Chinese sovereign state, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reiterated on Friday.
"The 1975 Joint Communique between the Republic of the Philippines and the People's Republic of China remains a cornerstone of our longstanding bilateral relationship," it said in a statement.
"In line with the One China Policy, which the Philippines has consistently upheld, the Government of the Philippines does not recognize Taiwan as a sovereign state. This policy is clear and unwavering," it added.
