MANILA, Dec. 8 -- The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Monday said it is preparing assistance for a Filipino detainee set to be deported from the United States following a removal order issued by immigration authorities.
In a report to the DFA, the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco confirmed the impending deportation of Greggy Valerio Sorio, currently held at the Northwest ICE Detention Center.
Sorio previously received legal support through the department's Legal Assistance Fund, but the U.S. Immigration Court still ordered his removal.
Subsequently, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) denied his application for stay.
