Manila, March 18 -- The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said 187 Filipinos who are victims of human trafficking and are stranded in Myanmar are set to return home as early as next week.

During a Senate Committee on Justice and Human Rights hearing on Tuesday, DFA Undersecretary Eduardo De Vega confirmed that the Philippine government has been working closely with Myanmar and Thailand to facilitate the victims' safe passage through the Friendship Bridge into Thailand, where they would be received by the Philippine Embassy in Bangkok before flying home.
