Manila, Dec. 18 -- The Department of Education (DepEd) on Thursday reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against violence in schools as it investigates an alleged child abuse incident involving a public school teacher in Manila.

The probe follows a complaint received by the DepEd-Schools Division Office of Manila, which alleges that a teacher in Tondo forced a male learner to eat a cockroach.

The DepEd Central Office also received the report via the Learners TeleSafe Contact Center Helpline (LTCCH) under the Learner Rights and Protection Division (LRPD).
