MANILA, June 18 -- The Department of Education (DepEd) on Wednesday committed to intensifying efforts to reverse the "learning crisis" within the term of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

The DepEd made the statement after the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) warned of the widespread "learning crisis" in the Philippines after the Covid-19 pandemic.

"We can manage it pero kailangan ng kilos (but we need actions). And we have the leadership of the President. He has promised to devote resources to it," Education Secretary Sonny Angara said in a media interview.

Angara said a learning crisis describes the students' inability to learn at the right grade level.
