MANILA, April 15 -- The four-hour daily closure of the Davao International Airport runway for repair work has been extended until May 31, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said Monday.

In an interview, CAAP spokesperson Eric Apolonio said the first notice to airmen (NOTAM) was issued for the runway's closure from January 29 to February 17.

The NOTAM has been extended for the third time, announcing the runway's closure from 12 a.m. to 4 a.m. from April 8 to May 31.

Apolonio said Davao airport's runway asphalt overlay project included the removal of a 2-inch-thick damaged asphalt pavement.
