Manila, July 10 -- The Department of Agriculture (DA) has approved the indemnification for hog farmers in two local government units (LGUs) in Negros Oriental whose pigs were culled following the outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) in previous years.

Jaymar Vilos, Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) spokesperson, said on Thursday that the local government units that qualified for the national government's financial compensation are Bais City and Manjuyod.

The ASF outbreaks were reported in Bais City and Manjuyod in 2023 and in Valencia in 2024.

Valencia swine raisers received the indemnification for their hog farmers last February.
