Manila, March 7 -- The Department of Agriculture (DA) on Thursday announced the maximum suggested retail price for pork to be implemented in wet markets in Metro Manila beginning March 10.

"We believe the MSRP will help ensure the sustainability of the pork industry, which continues to suffer from ASF's (African swine fever) adverse effects," DA Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. said in a statement.

The pork MSRP is set at PHP350 per kilogram for pork kasim (ham) and pigue; PHP380/kg for pork liempo (belly); and a maximum suggested price (MSP) of PHP300/kg for "sabit-ulo" or the price at which traders pass pork to retailers, according to the DA.
