Manila, July 3 -- To ensure stable prices of poultry products, the Department of Agriculture (DA) is now studying the imposition of a maximum suggested retail price for imported chicken.

The move would help consumers enjoy reasonable prices during the "ber" months when demand for meat rises, according to DA spokesperson Assistant Secretary Arnel de Mesa during a phone interview on Thursday.

"We are now studying the issuance of MSRP for August for imported pork products. And then by September, the poultry products, MSRP for chicken," he said in Filipino.

As of Wednesday, the price of a whole chicken in Metro Manila is between PHP220 and PHP250 per kilogram, according to DA-Bantay Presyo.
