Manila, April 10 -- Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. spearheaded on Thursday the promotion and sale of rice at PHP29 per kilo at the Kadiwa ng Pangulo event in General Luna town, Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte province.

The PHP29 Program, described as a targeted intervention, aims to provide high-quality, affordable rice to marginalized sectors, including senior citizens, persons with disability, and solo parents.

"The Kadiwa ng Pangulo is a government initiative designed to strengthen local farmers and fisherfolk by establishing direct market links, enabling the sale of produce at consumer-friendly prices," the DA-13 said in a statement Thursday.
