Manila, Feb. 4 -- The Department of Agriculture (DA) will reduce the maximum suggested retail price (MSRP) for 5 percent broken imported rice to PHP55 per kilogram in Metro Manila.
Retail markets agreed to lower the price from PHP58/kg when the MSRP was first imposed on Jan. 20.
"Starting tomorrow (Feb. 5), iyong (the) MSRP for imported rice na (that is) 5 percent will now be sold at PHP55 per kilo," DA spokesperson Assistant Secretary Arnel de Mesa said in a press conference Tuesday.
De Mesa said the MSRP will be implemented beyond the National Capital Region by Feb. 15.
Earlier, the DA said the MSRP will be continuously monitored and revised, at least every two weeks, even down to PHP52/kg on Feb. 15 and PHP49 on Mar. 1.
