MANILA, April 28 -- Kadiwa ng Pangulo (KNP) centers will sell the PHP20 per kilogram (kg) worth of "high quality" rice starting May 2, the Department of Agriculture (DA) said on Monday.

This comes a day after the target pilot launch of PHP20 per kg. rice sale in Cebu on May 1, the first area in the Visayas to benefit from the program.

In a statement, DA Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. said the government-subsidized rice will be offered to the vulnerable sector, particularly members of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and solo parents.
