MANILA, May 28 -- The Department of Agriculture (DA) on Wednesday said 120,000 minimum wage earners would benefit from the PHP20 per kilogram rice under the "Benteng Bigas Meron (BBM) Na" program starting in June.

The DA and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Tuesday "approved in principle" to expand the BBM Na program to minimum wage earners.

The program was first made available to members of the vulnerable sector, which include senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and members of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

In a press conference, DA spokesperson Assistant Secretary Arnel de Mesa said they have been provided with the official list of the program's beneficiaries nationwide.
