MANILA, Aug. 29 -- The Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on Friday welcomed President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s order to subject all government officials to lifestyle checks as a measure to deter possible corruption.
The move followed as Marcos ordered the implementation of the measure within the executive department amid an ongoing probe into alleged irregularities in the government's flood control projects.
In an ambush interview, Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. expressed full support for the initiative, saying it would help uncover possible misconduct among public officials.
