Manila, Dec. 24 -- The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) urged the public to remain vigilant online as cyber threats continue to evolve amid increased digital activity during the holiday season.

CICC acting Executive Director, Undersecretary Aboy Paraiso, said the surge in online shopping, digital payments, and social media use during Christmas often coincides with a spike in cyber scams, including AI-generated deepfakes, fraudulent investment offers, and fake calls or messages impersonating trusted individuals.

"So, ngayon pinaplano naman namin to monitor and detect deepfakes doon sa mga social media platforms in real time para mapa-takedown (So now, we are planning to monitor and detect deepfakes on social media ...
