Manila, Feb. 19 -- The construction of a PHP100 million bridge in Barangay Bolhoon, San Miguel, Surigao del Sur officially started after a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday.
The bridge will connect the barangay (village) to the rest of the province.
Bolhoon Barangay Captain Gladys Mae Corilla said the bridge will support development.
"We have been waiting for this bridge for years," Corilla said in a phone interview Wednesday. "We are glad the government is finally bringing this development."
The bridge will allow agricultural and other products to reach markets more easily, she said.
"Many administrations have passed, but it is only now that the desire of the people of Bolhoon has materialized," Corilla said.
