Manila, March 4 -- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Tuesday urged private companies to adopt measures to lessen the effects of sweltering temperatures in workplaces.
Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma asked employers to comply with Labor Advisory No. 08-2023.
"We are reiterating our appeal for employers to comply with the advisory to protect the health and safety of their workers," he said in an interview.
"Even if the onset of summer season is not yet officially here, proactive and preventive measures are better than reactive ones."
He noted the importance of adopting such measures to be able to keep employees and workplaces safe.
