Manila, Feb. 5 -- The Commission on Elections (Comelec) would use the Amoranto Sports Complex in Quezon City as a venue for verification of ballots that have been printed for the May 12 midterm polls.
"The National Printing Office does not have enough space. Therefore, in order for us to maximize the verification efforts, we will need a bigger space," Comelec Chairperson George Erwin Garcia said in a media forum in Manila.
"The Quezon City government is lending us the entire Amoranto Stadium for free," the poll body chief added.
At the same time, Garcia said they are currently preparing to start verification activities.
