MANILA, Nov. 12 -- The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Wednesday said preparations for the November 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are now a priority after the Supreme Court (SC) affirmed the legality of the law that postponed the electoral exercises.

According to Comelec Chairperson George Garcia, they will also focus on their timelines for next year's polls.

He noted that with the SC ruling, talks on the conduct of the village and youth polls could be put to rest.

"This, hopefully, would finally put an end to endless speculations concerning the BSKE," the poll body chief said in a brief statement.

"Now that the SC has spoken, the Comelec can now focus on our timelines and our preparations," he added....
