Manila, Sept. 3 -- The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will allocate another party-list seat in the House of Representatives (HOR), increasing the number of seats to 64 in the 20th Congress.
In an interview on Wednesday, Comelec Chairperson George Garcia noted that the Commission en banc has approved his recommendation to add one more seat to the 63 allocated during the May 2025 polls.
"(The) Comelec en banc approved it, but we, the HOR must be consulted," he said. "The HOR said this is absolute discretion of Comelec... the en banc was able to determine that instead of 63 seats, it should be 64 seats."
The 1987 Constitution provides that 20 percent of the composition of the House must be party-list members.
