Manila, May 13 -- The Commission on Elections (Comelec) city board of canvassers proclaimed Senator Nancy Binay as the next mayor of Makati City in a ceremony held at the Makati Coliseum Tuesday.

Binay arrived at the venue at about 2 p.m. and was joined by her family, including former vice president Jejomar Binay, former Makati mayors Elenita Binay and Junjun Binay, and family friend Joshua Aquino.

She topped the mayoralty race with 112,703 votes, defeating Abbyluis Campos of the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC), who received 83,721 votes; and independent candidates Victor Neri, 2,144 votes, and Orlando Stephen Solidum, 1,332 votes.
