Manila, March 26 -- Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairperson George Erwin Garcia has recommended placing Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte under the poll body's control in the midterm elections.

This came following Wednesday's ambush that killed the town's election officer, lawyer Bai Maceda Abo and her husband Jojo.

"We have already stated in the past that they shouldn't touch our Comelec employees and the voters. They shouldn't be harmed or terrorized. The Comelec won't allow it," Garcia said in an interview.

"Therefore, I will personally make the recommendation to the Commission en banc to place Datu Odin Sinsuat under Comelec Control."
