Manila, July 17 -- Holding of special polls for the seven parliamentary seats originally allocated for Sulu may be a solution to fill up the seats that have been deemed as "temporarily vacant".

United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP) president Murad Ebrahim said Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairperson George Garcia proposed the idea.

"If the reallocation of the seven seats is no longer passed on time, Chairman (Garcia) also raised the idea of holding special elections at a later date," he said in an interview at the poll body's main office in Manila on Thursday.

Ebrahim said they are agreeable to the proposal.
